Reluctantly For Sale...
We have to board our horses right now and because of drought it's extremely costly. All of our money goes to our "kids" here. Therefore we are offering two of our horses for sale. Below, our beloved yearling Empress Lucilla (Lucy). Also, on the "2002 Arrivals" page, we are selling our roan sabino filly "Ruby" we just got. Please read more about Lucy below, and check out that page to see "Ruby". Email me for more information on her!
WHY LUCY?
Well, Lucy has the type of conformation that can do well in hunter/jumper and other english events. I am just a beginner English rider (cow country here y'know) and I feel that she could DO something in that area given the chance. That's a chance she won't get with me. It's not really about money; it's about her getting to blossom. If she DOESN'T sell I will gladly keep her and someday pay for training, and then breed her to part-TB sporty Paints for sport babies. ;) Believe me it's not a horse I NEED to get rid of but it would be best for her and for us if she could find a good home! Take a look over her, and if you have any questions don't hesitate to email me at Conanette@aol.com. We are located in Rapid City, SD. Our horses get 6-way vaccines and intranasal strangles along with regular worming.

EMPRESS LUCILLA
2001 brown breeding stock Paint filly (APHA reg). Lucy defies her immediate lineage and looks to her ancestors in the 4th generation and beyond to have this Thoroughbred-like conformation. She just keeps getting more elegant with age and should mature beautifully. |

Lucy in June
Unfortunately, our horses were not properly cared for at their previous boarding facility, and as a result, were behind in their growth at the time these pictures were taken. I would estimate overall that they are behind 4 months or so right now; but have been shooting up again and filling out. Lucy will probably mature at around 15.3 honest hands. |

Look of Eagles
This halter doesn't complement her face well but you can see her regal bearing befitting of her name. Lucy is a sweetheart, and like all my horses, is safe, sane, and sociable. I don't have 'em any other way! She loves love. |

In June...
Still growing into herself (with better nutrition) here in June. Jumps over 4' at liberty and in fact prefers that height to lower jumps! Steps lively and attentively over cavaletti. I have been on her a couple times but nothing extensive since I don't want to damage growing bones.

Lucy at 4mos
Here's Lucy when we first brought her home with our other kids. She likes to have a friend around for comfort- she used to get a little spooky when alone but has mostly grown out of that. That would be her main vice (hey all horses have SOMETHING- I won't hide something from a potential buyer). She does not get freaky or dangerous, just is less attentive. Feet done regularly, bathes calmly, loads well. She is many people's favorite horse of mine. |

Lucy at a few weeks
Lucy as a baby; we were surprised at her brown coat at weaning given her bay baby coat. Always has been leggy and "english" type though dam was a tank and sire is more stock-type. Her sire is a son of Huslers Ole Man, from a dam who is double-bred the same Sugar Bars/Leo mare (a cross favored by Sugar Bars' owner), with Top Moon and Depth Charge thrown in on sire's 3rd generation. Dam has several farther-back crosses to Three Bars, and The Ole Man is in her 3rd generation. These lines are where Lucy must have got her looks! :) |
